No one should have to navigate the healthcare system alone simply because they cannot afford insurance.

One connection can help you find your next step.
One next step can bring hope.

Lack of access to insurance does not mean lack of access to quality care.

Not medical advice. CardiaHope helps you find and connect to care — it does not diagnose, treat, or replace a health professional.

You are not alone in this

Millions of people are carrying this same worry. None of it is a personal failing.

  • 8%

of Americans have no health insurance at all.

  • 1 in 4

of working-age adults has insurance and still can’t afford care — they are underinsured.

  • 4 in 10

working-age adults have no coverage, or coverage that doesn’t protect them from high costs.

Sources & methodology

The 8% figure is the CDC’s National Health Interview Survey estimate for 2025: 8.3% of Americans of all ages — about 28 million people — had no health insurance, and 11.6% of adults 18–64 were uninsured. The underinsured figures come from the Commonwealth Fund’s 2024 Biennial Health Insurance Survey of adults 19–64: 23% (about 1 in 4) were underinsured, meaning out-of-pocket costs excluding premiums reached 10% or more of household income (5% or more for those below 200% of the federal poverty level), or a deductible of 5% or more of income. Adding adults who were uninsured for part of the year (12%) or at the time of the survey (9%) comes to about 44% — roughly 4 in 10 — without coverage that protects them from high costs. Coverage rules and costs still vary by state.
